The Israel Palestine conflict is not as complicated as people may think. The two nations have been fighting for many years. The objective of the war has always been for the possession of the greater territory. This war has been destroying and separating families from both sides. The area, Palestine, that both nations have been fighting for, is an area in the Middle East, bounded to the west by the Mediterranean, to the north by Lebanon, to the south by the Sinai Desert, and to the east by the Jordan River (Israeli-Palestinian). As of April 2002, 1,229 Palestinians and 408 Israelis have died in the war. Pro-Israelis believe that the difference between those awful numbers is evidence of the military superiority of Israel, and the political foolishness of the Palestinians (Wieseltier). They believe that Palestinians could have had the land without the dreadful deaths if only they did not resist against the occupation because the Israeli military doesn’t damage or destroy the land. However, the Israeli military does damage the land they occupy. For example, my uncle lost his land as a result of the Israeli government’s occupation which supposedly doesn’t damage or destroy the land. Pro-Israelis believe they are not to blame for the conflict because the countries surrounding Israel hate them. When Israel was made a state back in 1948, they were attacked by the countries around them. When they were attacked many Jewish refugees were kicked out of those countries making them feel victimized. Another reason pro-Israelis blame Palestinians for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is because they fear of Palestinian gunman or suicide bombers that walk into settlements and kill Israelis (Zur).
