My current job as an engineering intern back at home has prepared me to take on new and greater challenges and responsibilities, such as I am able to meet deadlines and challenge myself to go above and beyond of every task. This is the reason as to why I want to take on this position in order to challenge and develop myself even further. My current job has also prepared me to plan and organize events. I was delegated with the task to put on a robotic and machinery event for middle school children. I had to communicate with the school’s staffs and advertise to the students. I was also given a desk job where I am able to assist customers. I also work well with technology, such as using certain software, specifically Microsoft and Adobe Photoshop. Dear DePaul Department of Housing Services, I am looking to apply to the Facilities Assistant Position. I have worked with Housing Services before as a Residential Advisor and through that position, I was able to learn about the various duties of Facilities Assistants. I also heard about the opening position through a previous facilities assistant, Jacky Villagomez. I am interested in this position because I have already experienced what it’s like to work with the residents of DePaul’s student housing, but I have yet to experience the challenges Facilities Assistants face day to day responding to different facility needs. This position will allow me to face different challenges and will allow me to contribute to the larger DePaul student community.…

I should reconsider my career choice of a chief diversity officer. The article, Experiences of Women of Color University Chief Diversity Officers (Nixon, M. L., 2016) uncovered the immense pressures both personally and professionally that women of color face in their quest to serve as catalyst for diversity in institutions of higher learning. The qualitative study conducted semi structured interviews with five women of color and to determine if the equities experienced relating to being chief diversity officers were a result of their race, gender or an intersectionality of both. The article explores the idea that these women often were in roles of leadership, by virtue of title, however their social identities as women of color and profession isolated them to being outsiders to the institution as a whole (Nixon, 2016). Women of color are more likely to be appointed chief diversity officers, however these tend to be token appointments with minimal authority and extraordinary performance standards.…

Diversity Strategic Plan In order to properly fulfill the mission statement of Florence Schools it is important to lay out a clear and concise plan for how to properly achieve those goals. Moreover, as we seek to prepare students to compete in the global and diverse world; it is important that we give them the tools to be successful. This is why the plan seeks to properly ensure that we are pushing low achieving minority students to a success; while at the same time promoting within high achieving minority students the ability to flourish academically. Likewise, according to the research due to our racially diverse classrooms; it is important that children see themselves reflected in different perspectives, and that teaching and learning reflects…
