It's more than just speaking the language. Communication skills involve active listening, presentation as well as excellent writing capabilities. One highly sought-after communication skill is the ability to explain technical concepts to partners, customers and co-workers that aren't tech savvy. Anyone can talk but not everyone knows how to get their point across without making others' ears ring. Meandering, speaking out of turn, unleashing an awkward torrent of words – we've all done it. It's not a big deal to say something weird to your bank teller, but consistently poor communication at work can take its toll on the whole team and could turn co-workers against each other. Computer skills have become increasingly important as companies have started to depend upon computerized technology to get work done. Computer skills can mean that you can perform tasks that others in the work force aren’t able to, and you are familiar with and able to work with programs that businesses use. For example as civil engineer software like AutoCAD, geostudio, etc. are used to for fast work done. Employers are definitely looking for graduates that are able to use all the software to analyse information, in order to make better and consistent as well as precise decisions. You will have a better chance of being successful in a workplace if you are able to navigate computers and use common or specialized computer …show more content…
Even if you start out in a lower level job, acquiring or having advanced computer skills likely will help you to get a better job more quickly than you would if you didn’t have computer skills. If you have advanced knowledge of how to use computers, you could be put in a leadership position in which you teach others how to use computers or certain computer programs. You may also be called upon to serve as a computer technician, assisting others in fixing and using computerized technology more effectively, if you have advanced computer
