Discussion Board Forum One Advancement in technology continues to change the way we live. The more advanced technology becomes, the more it improves and simplifies our lives. A perfect example is the impact that advanced computer development has had on our healthcare system. Healthcare information technology (HIT) created, electronic health record (EHR) systems for collecting comprehensive patient data. This data is then shared with other healthcare providers, and organizations. A program within EHR called, Computerized provider order entry (CPOE), is for patient’s orders. ATA was established in 1993, and is based in Washington, DC. ATA promotes telemedicine by providing, educational opportunities, networking, resources, and research to over 10,000 members. ATA develops policies and standards for telemedicine (About ATA, 2016). Telemedicine was originally designed to treat people that didn 't have access to health care, or health care providers. Today, due to advancements in technology, telemedicine is used around the world. Hospitals, clinics, and health care providers use telemedicine as a means of providing routine health care. In 2010, CARING merged with the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA) from California. ANIA has over 3,000 members from 34 countries, and 50 states (Nelson & Staggers, 2014, p. 7).
ANIA created the logo, "where caring and technology meet". ANIA purpose is, "to advance the field of nursing informatics through communication, education, research and professional activities" (ANIA Strategic Plan, 2016).
