When people are faced with choices that are life-changing they must decide which path to take. However, people tend to take the easier well-trodden path because they are afraid of the unknown. While most people tend to take the easier path, there are a few individuals who decide to follow their dreams for the better or worse but, allows them to feel a sense of accomplishment. In “The Road Not Taken”, though the use of imagery Frost, depicts the outcome when the unconventional road is taken when the persona says, “I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference” (Robert Frost). Through this comment it can be inferred that the persona has sigh of relive when he reminisces that he took the road less travelled by, and that this choice has made a positive impact in his life. The two roads diverging create a sense of bewilderment and decisiveness as they present a crossroad to which a decision must be made. In result, contrasting to “Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening”, this persona has followed the unconventional path which in the end works towards his/her benefit. Furthermore, this poem tries to break the norm of society by encouraging people to take risks due to the unknown but potential benefits that can happen if a person acts differently.
