We researched the history of rape and learned that rape occurrences trace as far back as 900 BC (“History of Rape Culture”). The rape of women and youth was a common theme throughout Greek mythology in stories of Zeus, Hera, and many other Greek Gods and Goddesses (“History of Rape Culture”). Until 1993 men used to be able to force sex upon their wives without any repercussions. In 1993 is when this became illegal and known as marital rape (“History of Rape Culture”).
