Introduction The paper reviews the difficulties that the new nurse graduate go through at the beginning of the career, and its possible outcomes and implementations. The clinical problem describes how the new nurse graduate could learn to identify priorities to prevent common mistakes. The PICO format is used to identify and define an evidence-based question. The search is conducted at three major databases. Following the search, the literature review is conducted and identified multiple ways the new nurse graduate can exploit to prevent prioritization mistakes. As a result, three practice recommendations are made. Clinical Problem

Several articles emphasized different type of errors including medication errors, patient falls and etc. Few articles emphasized critical thinking skills development for the new nurse graduate. The research by S. Wahl & A. Thompson “Concept mapping in a critical care orientation program: a pilot study to develop critical thinking and decision-making skills in novice nurses” was made with newly graduated registered nurses hired into intensive care. The study concluded that newly graduated nurses make poor clinical decisions and lack critical thinking. Study offered concept mapping as a tool for improvement. The other research by L. Wallin, P. Gustavsson, A. Ehrenberg, & A. Rudman, “A modest start, but a steady rise in research use: a longitudinal study of nurses during the first five years in professional life” was done as a survey of 1501 new graduates. Study showed incline of usage of research among new grads after two years of practice, and concluded the decline to use research in first years of practice due to transitional shock of a new career. Another research by M. Gillespie & B.L. Peterson “Helping novice nurses make effective clinical decisions: The situated clinical decision-making framework” showed that new nurse graduates lack clinical decision-making process, and concedes to be linear due to lack of knowledge and experience.
