Government back then was very harsh, that means that people were often put to death or tortured. Vast majority of the government’s effort was put into clean working laws. During the Victorian era machines were being introduced into the world, so many people lost their jobs. The government tried to save their jobs, but unfortunately they were overturned by machinery.
