The Dark Side Of The Internet And The Internet

Taxes have always been viewed as a very bad thing in America. Many make the argument that raising taxes hurts the economy because it restricts the amount of money a citizen can spend on goods and services. While this argument does seem to possess a sense of logic, in reality we have lived in times of higher taxation with a good economy. Taxes are necessary because we cannot enjoy the freedom we love without some kind of funding. Money does not just magically appear and the government has to have financial backing. When you pay taxes, you are investing in your community. It is the federal government’s role to set national standards so that everyone may enjoy freedom without fear that someone else could impede that freedom. There are …show more content…
Everything you have ever seen or encountered while using search engines on the internet is what’s known as the surface web. The surface web only accounts for about thirty percent of the actual internet; the other seventy percent belongs to what is known as the Deep Web. This mysterious term basically just describes every database and website that cannot be accessed through the traditional search engine. While this does include scholarly databases, such as the content found on NCLive, I am going to focus on the darker side of the Deep Web. This section of the internet is home to many of the things that normal, law-abiding citizens fear. Everything from child pornography, to organ markets, to “hackers for hire” can be accessed on the Deep Web. Terrorist groups are even known to use it as a method of communicating with one another. The reason that political leaders tend to avoid talking about it is because it is outside of any government’s power to try and control. Any attempt made to control the Internet is almost always shut down by citizens. I am one of those people that agree that the Internet in a living, breathing culture in itself, but I want to talk about one thing I find to be truly horrifying about the Internet: that you can hire hitmen to find and kill people. In our day and age, everything is for sell, including people’s lives. I attribute this to our country’s idolization …show more content…
There is a lot of fear associated with the word “socialist” and with good reason too. National socialism is also called Nazism. The Nazi Party pushed to eliminate social diversity through means of traditionalism and national unity. They believed that anyone not a part of the Aryan race was a threat to peace throughout the world. This mindset is obviously wrong and just outright evil. Democratic socialism is on a different side of the political spectrum. Because of the word “socialism” being a part of the name, democratic socialism is often attributed to totalitarianism. Socialism refers to an economic system in which the economy is controlled by the community as a whole, whereas totalitarianism refers to a political system in which every aspect of a community is controlled by an absolute government. Communism is another reason why socialism is often feared. In a communist society, capital is theoretically distributed equally, thus making everyone have the same ownership of everything in the country. This certain political system collapsed because of individual greed. Democratic socialism is very different from both Nazism and Communism because rather than the government deciding what equal distribution is or who should be allowed to live in society, the economy is decided by a democratic majority. It follows the same basic social ideas of the democratic party, but aims to decrease

As technology advances, members of the free society are able to access an increasing wealth of information. However, the Internet will always have the potential to revolutionize the world, both for the betterment of everyone and the detriment of everyone. In Lloyd Axworthy’s article “The Internet and Global Human Rights,” he compares the positives and negatives of the Internet. People have a higher potential to use the internet to pursue unethical ideas than good because the internet allows for spreading false information through the manipulation of facts, stealing of intellectual property through piracy of content, and creating a harmful atmosphere through false identities and privacy concerns.…

Censorship in the media has been a controversial topic ever since the founding of the United States. From the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 that restrict the rights of immigrants, under the John Adams presidency, to the Edward Snowden and NSA scandal in 2013 that concerned government surveillance of its citizens and government transparency. These controversies have caused a public backlash against media censorship of any kind but there are aspects of media censorship that protect society rather than hurt it. Instead of hiding government secrets or preventing certain political ideas from being expressed, media censorship can be used to hide criminal’s and victim’s names as well to hide sensitive and graphic images or video from the public.…

This is also important for other competitors in this process. In a socialist system, people don’t need to compete for their development because everything belongs to the community; instead of this they compete for political power, which causes much instability in socialist countries. This harms the development of the countries, and it also helps explain why many capitalist countries are secure, such as the United States and Canada. On the other hand, socialism may be viewed as superior to capitalism because it seeks for social justice and promotes education. Socialism, a general term for the political and economic theory, advocates a system of collective or government ownership and management of the means of production and distribution of goods.…
