Ten years ago at the close of the 20th century, people the world over were obsessing about the millennium bug – an unanticipated glitch arising from an earlier technology. I wonder how clear it was then that, despite this storm in what turned out to be a rather small teacup, the following decade would see unprecedented advances in technology – the mapping of the human genome, social media, nanotechnology, space-tourism, face transplants, hybrid cars, global communications, digital storage, and more. Looking back, it’s clear that despite a few hiccups, emerging technologies are on a roll – one …show more content…
Significant others are fighting over who is going to shovel the snow. Artificial pumpkin flavoring is everywhere. Technology has become perhaps the greatest agent of change in the modern world. While never without risk, positive technological breakthroughs promise innovative solutions to the most pressing global challenges of our time, from resource scarcity to global environmental change .Technologies such as machine learning may ultimately allow computers to do many knowledge-based jobs that require significant education. This may result in substantial unemployment at all skill levels, stagnant or falling wages for most workers, and increased concentration of income and wealth as the owners of capital capture an ever larger fraction of the economy.
Some of the projects will grow up in future 2020 which are listed:
Body-adapted Wearable Electronics: The new generation of wearables is designed to adapt to the human body’s shape at the place of deployment. These wearables are typically tiny, packed with a wide range of sensors and a feedback system, and camouflaged to make their use less intrusive and more socially …show more content…
Full-sized keyboards can already be projected onto a surface for users to interact with, without concern over whether it will fit into their pocket.
Quantified Self (Predictive Analytics): The quantified-self movement has existed for many years as a collaboration of people collecting continual data on their everyday activities in order to make better choices about their health and behaviour. But, with today’s Internet of Things, the movement has begun to come into its own and have a wider impact. In recent years, sensors have become cheap and increasingly ubiquitous as more manufacturers include them in their products to understand consumer behaviour and avoid the need for expensive market research.
Ultra HD 4K Will Spread to Television and Phones: Improved mobile devices will be released that include Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processors by the end of 2014, which can handle 4K video and completely revolutionize the way video will be viewed.
Social Networks That Are IT Policy Friendly: email replaced paper memos and pagers, IT policy friendly social networks will continue to grow, as seen with the launches and successes of Salesforce Chatter, Microsoft Yammer and SocialCast from VMW
