The Effect of Charity on People

In part I do agree with this statement, as I do think that charities
do not have the entire effect that Christians want, but I do not feel
that it makes the poor people lazy and keeps them poor.

A charity would struggle to have the entire effect that Christians
would want. The ultimate aim of a charity of course would be to
eliminate poverty throughout the world, and this has certainly not
been achieved. Even with all the charities in the world today, the
individual charities such as Tearfund, Christian aid, and every other
charity working towards the world poverty crisis, there has been

They are not lazy, they do not
keep themselves poor, but simply have no means of obtaining what they
need to survive on their own, and thus remain poor. The rich can give
them food to last a day, but they do not give them what they really
need, which is the tools, water, and land on which to farm. Given
these things, which were taken away from them through disasters such
as war, they could survive by themselves, not relying on handouts of
food from the rich. Yes the majority of poor people live in countries
where produce is weak, but given the chance and the means of doing so,
they will survive and break free from the poverty cycle. We must
support them, as Christians. It is not right to call poor people lazy,
for it is not in their power to work as some do, at a desk in an

Our worlds are very different, even though they should not be. All men
and women were made equal by God, and we should not forget that. Love
thy neighbour, and a poor person is your neighbour also, they not
different from you or me, they are the same and should be given an
equal chance in this life to anyone else.

It sickens me to think that there are poor people in the world, that
other ridicule because they are unfortunate enough to have had to beg
for food to keep alive. We should be helping those people, not calling
