Political Parties In America

While it can be certain that politics in America seem to have gotten unreasonably chaotic, political parties are what can salvage what remains of our forefathers vision for our government. While political parties are important to the function of our government, the two-party system is insufficient for acquiring an accurate portrayal of beliefs and needs of the people. Thus, political parties should continue to be a strong component of America’s political system, but should be modified by adding another party into the major party options. Political parties in America aren’t a necessity to running our government, but they do ease the process of elections and passing legislation. The main function of political parties is to pick candidates and get them elected based on certain beliefs/needs or platforms. These platforms that are developed by the parties create a base for people to get involved and unite in a common cause. Our government was founded upon the belief that it was to be the people’s government. By limiting those numerous voices into two groups, many voices go unrepresented and votes are seemingly pointless.Accurate representation of minority groups is diminished. Another consequence of the two party system is that one party will almost always be in the majority, but only marginally. When compromise becomes necessary, it is near impossible to come to a conclusion that satisfies both parties. With the introduction of another party, it is likely there would never be a majority and a compromise will need to be reached to gain majority. This compromise would be more centered and satisfy needs of all parties involved. These
