I became lost in the pages of the fantasies. Thereafter, I went to the school’s library and picked up one of the most affecting books ever written that related to my life, but not as literal. All of my young life, I was fearful of the infamous, “bomb”. This was a word that I heard a lot around the house and in the neighborhood, particularly because it was the time of war and conflicts in the sixties and seventies. The book was, “The Diary of Anne Frank”. Anne lived a very short life, mostly in fear of imminent death at the hands of the Nazis during World War II. Although my experience had similarities, such as age and the fear of war, I could not quantify the desperate situation she lived; but, I felt like I could feel her pain. Feeling this way, led me to seeking God in a local church. I believed that if Anne could keep her faith through those horrific moments, I should try to find my connection to faith. So, I told my parents that I wanted to go to church. Because of their belief in finding your own path, they agreed and gave me my first bible in 1972, which I still
