“O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!,/ It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night,/ Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope's ear;,/ Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear.”(1.5.43-46). This quote shows Romeo comparing Juliet to a jewel in an Ethiope's ear which is very beautiful so Romeo is Calling Juliet beautiful. Romeo is also calling her hot by saying “O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!”(1.5.43) by basically saying that she will make it burn brighter. This is not love because you do not just base someone off of their looks to get with them. This also shows that Romeo really just goes by what they look like because by context clues he did the same thing with Rosaline to get with her. Rosaline is another example because Romeo was so heartbroken he says over Rosaline but a soon as he seen Juliet it was bye-bye, Rosaline. This paragraph shows that Romeo only likes to really play around and goes by what girls look

Romeo & juliet, was it real love or lust at first sight? In William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet are not in love because they marry the day after they meet, they also experience lust at first sight, and they are very immature and foolish. These are great reasons for the support of the fact that Romeo and Juliet are not in love. Another true reason to help support the that they are not in love is they met and died within five days, which does not give them very much time to get to know one another therefore adds more to the reason of them not being truely inlove withone another.…

Romeo and Juliet rush to get married after their first meeting. For example, when Romeo and Juliet are meeting in the orchard, Juliet says, “Three words, dear Romeo, and good night indeed./If that thy bent of love be honorable,/ Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow,/By one that I’ll procure to come to thee,/Where and what time thou wilt perform the rite;/And all my fortunes at thy foot I’ll lay/And follow thee my lord throughout the world”(2.2.142-148). The definition of love states that there is an intense feeling of deep affection towards another present. From reading this first act, it seems as if what Romeo was feeling towards Juliet was not love; it could have been a brief infatuation at the first moment or lust. Certainly there must have been a physical attraction. Near the end of the first act at the party the characters are attending, the reader witnesses Romeo catching sight of Juliet and seemingly forgetting Rosaline, his apparent love that could not be topped, “O, she doth teach the torches to turn bright!/ It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night/ As a rich jewel in an Ethiop’s ear-/ Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear!/”…
