The Day My World Stopped
I can remember this day as if it happened yesterday. The sun was out, the sky was crystal blue, and it was mother 's day weekend. The year was 2010 and I had no idea of the nightmare I had ahead of me. I remember being at my aunt 's house getting ready for lunch at Los Cucos to celebrate my mom, aunt, and grandmothers for mothers day. I remember my outfit: my hair straightened, black shorts, a white ruffled shirt, and my black Toms. I remember being one of the first ones in the house that was ready for lunch. I was lying on my cousins bed, as she straightened her hair, listening to music without a care in the world. All of a sudden, my aunt burst through my cousins door and demanded that I get into the car because there

The next sentence that came from my aunts mouth was like a knife to my heart, "Your dad just had a seizure and is in the emergency room." Immediately my knees buckled and I could not find the strength to take one step more. I started bawling uncontrollably and felt like I was in a dream. My uncle helped me to the car, my eyes blurred from tears, and we were on our way to get through what seemed like the longest day of my life. I remember the car ride and repeatedly pinching my arm to wake myself from the nightmare I was in. I had a jacket over my face as I bawled all the way to the emergency room. I remember I kept saying, "This isn 't real," repeatedly, but do not remember if it was aloud or in my head. As soon as we pulled into the emergency room, I sat in the car for what seemed like hours, waiting for someone to help me get to the lobby. When I walked through the automatic doors, I was greeted by my grandparents, who were just as in shock as I was. It seemed like hours until they allowed us into the room to visit with my father and I was one of the first to go in. I broke down as soon as my eyes met my dads and I couldn’t believe that he was really lying in …show more content…
My grandmother was in the room with me and could tell seeing my dad like that was really taking a toll on me. My grandmother finally asked my dad how he was doing and what happened. My dad replied saying that he remembered falling to the floor and having an outer body experience where he kept telling the paramedics he was fine, but kept watching them handle precautionary procedures on him. He did not remember how he got to the hospital exactly, but knew that was where he was. When I finally had the energy and composure to talk, I immediately let my dad know how much I loved him and how much I needed him to be here for me. It was my senior year in high school and wanted my dad to witness his little girl graduate and go to college. My dad tried to encourage me about how he was okay and that his seizure was just a fluke. I tried my best to believe that everything would be okay, but only 20 minutes later did I find out the truth. After I hugged and kissed my dad, I figured I should give my other family members a chance to see and talk to him so I stepped outside to get a breath of fresh air. After finding the courage to calm down, I was hit again with another knife to the heart. I remember seeing my aunt run out of the ER into my uncles
