Activity 2:
1.1 Breathing in living organisms, the taking in of oxygen and the release of energy and carbon dioxide after carbohydrates are broken down.
1.2 Crocodiles have lungs just like humans and cannot breathe under water. The gas exchange process is very similar to other mammals. Crocodiles also have a palate that protects the gullets which enabling crocodiles to swim with their mouths open. …show more content…
Their sense of smell can also help to tell how far away their prey and what direction and how far away it is. Crocodiles also have special glands that can help determine how much salt is in the water as well as other chemicals. Crocodiles also have nerves all over their body's which help detect movement in the water from prey or another species. Crocodiles also have very good hearing. Crocodiles sense of touch is very good they have lots of little 'black speckles' on their skin which are actually nerves which help them detect the slightest movement, pressure changes as small as a single drop in the water.
3.1 poikilotherm is an animals whose temperature changes a lot. This is why crocodiles sit in the sun while it is cold because they cannot heat themselves up.
3.2 Crocodiles sit in the sun when it is cold to hart their bodies up due to the fact that they are poikilothermic and cannot heat their body's up by themselves. When the temperatures are to hot crocodiles swim to cool their body's …show more content…
The crocodiles twist together trying to align their cloaca. The male then inseminates the female. Crocodiles do not have a mating partner for their whole life.
Nesting: crocodiles deposit their eggs into holes in the ground. A female will normally lay between 30 to 60 eggs that will hatch for 80 to 90 days. The temperature of the soil in the nest determines the sex of the hatchlings, the hotter or closer to the surface eggs are males where the eggs at the bottom of the nest are females. Crocodiles dig their way out of the nest once born, they can crawl out on their own.
The baby crocodiles will stay with their mother for about 3 months after being born and then they leave. The mother will eat her young if she cannot get any food at all.
5.1 Heterotroph mean that an organism cannot makes own food but relays of others for food. This means that a crocodile could not makes its food. A crocdiles metabolism uses or stores all the food they consume, in extreme conditions the are able to shut down live off their
