Whether you love them or hate them, you can’t deny that they are amazing organizations with a knack of winning. I will now go through the similarities and differences of these two dynasties. Having the same coach and running the same system for sixteen years definitely paid off. After Auerbach retired, the Celtics won six more championships. What is so spectacular about this? Later on, the Celtics won six more championships from former players under Auerbach’s era: Bill Russell from 1966-1978, Tom Heinsohn from 1969-1978, and K.C. Jones from 1983-1988. The most recent championship won by the Celtics was in 2008. The championship victory was led by Doc Rivers, who coached the organization for nine years (2004-2013). First off, a very obvious difference is that these two teams don’t play the same sport. For the Celtics, it’s basketball. For the Patriots, it’s American football. Another difference is that the Celtic’s championship years were in the late 1900’s. They won sixteen titles between the years of 1957 to 1986. In those twenty-nine years, they won over half of the championships available! The Patriots, on the other hand, have dominated the 2000’s. All four of their Lombardi Trophies came in the period of 2001 to 2014. Another difference is that the Celtics have won their championships with honor and respect; while the Patriots have been plagued by controversy. The first of these controversies was called the Spygate. This was when the Patriots were caught cheating by videotaping opposing teams plays and signals. The second controversy was dubbed the Deflategate. This was when they were caught cheating again by tampering with the footballs to gain an advantage. All in all, the Celtics and Patriots have dominated different eras in their respective sports. Although, the Patriots have been known for winning, those wins have been much
