This book is written by Sid Fleischman, and got a Newbery Prize at 1987. This book has a story for children, prince Brat and Jemmy becomes a friend by a process of escaping from two ruffians, named Hold-Your- Nose-Billy and Cutwater. Summary:

In a kingdom, there was a mischievious prince named prince Horace, but people called him prince Brat. Also, he had an orphan whipping boy, named Jemmy. The prince hated him so much. They hated each other. Prince Brat hated the life in the palace so much, so he decided to escape from the castle. He ordered Jemmy come with him and serve him. They went to the forest, and there were two ruffians, Hold-Your-Nose-Billy and Cutwater. They took Jemmy and the prince into their hideout, and asked them to write a ransom note to the king, the prince and Jemmy tried to escape from there, and they succeed. Meanwhile, they met a girl, named Besty and a potato man. When they were in a fair, two ruffians came them. Jemmy and Prince Brat quickly ran to the sewer and cutthroats chased them. Jemmy is the orphan whipping boy in a castle. He never bawl or cry during a soldier is whacking him but always wanted to escape from the castle, and did not like prince Brat. However, after he met two ruffians and tried to escape from them with prince Brat, he became a friend with the prince Brat and trust him. Prince Brat is very mischievous boy, so he usually make king angry. However, after he learned that everyone called him prince Brat behind his back and they dreaded the day he become king, he was shocked. Hold-Your-Nose-Billy and Cutwater are ruffians who kidnap Jemmy and prince Brat. They took Jemmy and prince Brat into their hiding place and asked them to write a ransom note to the king. Both of them are very bloodthirsty. They continuously chase after Jemmy and prince Brat after Jemmy and prince Brat escape from them.
