In the past decades the percentage of immigrant children has increased from 4.7 percent to 12.9 percent. This significant increase is putting more children into poverty and ultimately setting them up for either failure or success with no grey area in-between. There is also the anxious thoughts put into their minds about being in a new place with unfamiliar people or objects, even sounds. These children need to learn skills that they would have never even thought about learning which to them, is the ultimate source of their stress.…

There are many elements that effectively help the education program. There are programs such as the additive bilingual that helps the students learn the best way possible by two-way or one-way immersion. Even though there are programs that help the student become bilingual and biliterate, we must look at the translanguaging, comprehensible input, affective, cognitive, and meta-cognitive strategies from the student. We must also validate the student’s culture and support their language for a minimum of 5 years. “An additive bilingual situation is where the addition of a second language and culture is unlikely to replace or displace the first language and culture” (Baker, 2001, pg. 58).…

Language reflects on humans’ culture, social standing, gender and beliefs. Human beings communicate through different language codes such as written, spoken, movement as gestures or visual as images. Language differs in style and format according to different contexts, which is the purpose of a particular situation. People speak and write to maintain their social relation in their family life and within their community.…

Role of input : All theories and studies regarding second language acquisition go back to the nature of input and how when an L2 learner uses the input in interactions the learner will produce language and forms (output) directed by the feedback. Krashen believes that the input hypothesis is the answer to how the natural order hypothesis takes place and how an L2 learner moves from one stage to the next in SLA. (Gass, 1997). One of the key issues of SLA is the role of the input hypothesis and the role it plays in the L2 process. Furthermore L2 acquisition can only happen with enough L2 input.…
