What were the causes of the different results of MAundsen and Scott expeditions to the south pole in 1911

In the peak of Heroic age of Antarctic discovery, a race to reach the center of the south pole was started by two exploreres. The first one Robert Falcon Scott, with the help of the Geographical Society of England, started planning his journey, without the pressure of the race until when in meltrne he received the telegram of Amundsen communicating his expendieron to the south pole. Amundsen was nit really planing to go to the south pole instead his intentions were to go to the north pole but changed his plans when another explorer was the first one to arrive to the north pole.

On September 8, 1911, the expedition of Amundsen headed for the pole, taking advantage of an increase in temperature that seemed like a spring warming. The team consisted of eight people: Olav Bjaaland, Helmer Hanssen, Sverre Hassel, Oscar Wisting, Jørgen Stubberud, Hjalmar Johansen, Kristian Prestrud and Amundsen. But shortly after the start, the

In addition they also had internal problems. Thus, Lawrence Oates faced Scott on several occasions, for issues related to how to lead the expedition. He once wrote in his diary: "Myself, I dislike Scott intensely and would chuck the whole thing if it were not that we are a British expedition ... Scott is not straight, it is himself first, the rest nowhere ..." ('I do not like Scott and I would throw it all away if it were not because we are a British expedition ... Scott does not act with rectitude, his first concern is himself, the rest do not care ...').
