Economic, Social & Environmental impacts of Tourism in Thailand
Nowadays Tourism generates a significant portion of its national income for many counties. Thailand is not only a very popular tourist country but is also one of the biggest tourist destination. Thailand’s tourism industry started growing faster since 1987. In current years, the international tourism market provides an enormous opportunity for further progress, with benefits and drawbacks that influence on economy, society and environment.

Firstly, Thailand’s tourism industry creates a lot of job opportunities for its citizens. However, these jobs are mostly poorly paid with little job security and lower career conditions. Secondly, the employees lack professional knowledge and training and have a low educational background, the hospitality system is out of date so it is needs to catch up with the international service requirements. This includes the deterioration of air and water quality, mainly due to air traffic and the urbanization of natural areas. Otherwise, also the beaches are polluted by the rubbish, even the animal like turtles, they are always killed and hurt by plastic straw and cigarette butts. Even worse, there is an area where you can pay extra to get an up close and personal photo with a tiger. These tiger temples/kingdoms have been said to even go so far as to remove the tigers claws and teeth, even the tendons in their wrists are clipped so they can’t swat or run with a lot of speed to ensure that tourists are not harmed when visiting. On a visit to Thailand 3 years ago, the Golden Temple which is located in Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, I discovered that donations and government money are set aside to reestablish some buildings, which would otherwise be neglected. Government should pay attention to Thailand’s protection and control in order to preserve the environment of natural beauty, also impose rules and regulations for the tourism industries and travel agents. The horrid behavior of a group of Chinese tourists resulted in their fellow nationals being banned from Wat Rong Khun, or the white temple, in Chiang Rai, Thailand. While the ban was lifted later on, the incident has resulted in renewed calls from within China for tourists who travel overseas to behave appropriately and not damage
