The kids that are bullied may start to have depression and anxiety, increased feelings of sadness and loneliness, changes in sleep and eating patterns, health complaints, decreased academic achievement, and skip or drop out of school (stopbullying.gov, 2015). In some rare buy highly publicized cases, some kids have turned to suicide (kidshealth.org, 2015). Many teens will keep it all inside to their self, only a few will tell their parents and get help about it. A lot of people link bullying with suicide, however, most teens that are bullied do not always have thoughts of suicide (stopbulling.gov, 2015). But many teens may still fall back to suicide because many don’t have the emotional capability to deal with severe bullying.
The kids that bully are prone to an alcohol abuse, and other drugs, get into fights, vandalize property, drop out of school, engage in early sexual activity, have criminal convections and traffic citations as adults, be abusive toward their romantic partners, spouses or children as an adult (stopbullying.gov, 2015). But according to Internet Safety 101 43% of teens aged 13 to 17 reports that they have experienced some sort of Cyberbullying in the past year. More girls are cyber bullied than boys, girls 59% and boys 41% (internetsafety101, 2015). Many bullies think they can get away with the Cyberbullying that is now changing with the use of screen shots and much more. The punishment for cyber bullies at school can include being suspended from school or kicked off of sports teams; certain types can be considered crimes (Kids health, 2015). Many people wonder why kids bully possible reasons would be, to show off to friends 11%, to be mean 14%, something else 16%, to embarrass them 21%, for fun or entertainment 28%, they deserved it 58%, to get back at someone 58% (Internet Safety 101, 2015). Another reason why teens bully is because feel that they have a social power, or they are overly concerned about their popularity, and like to be dominate or be in charge of others (stopbullying.gov, 2015).
