Team Leadership Reflection

As team leader of week 5 the only assignment due was an individual assignment, how team members responded to my team leadership is quite well with all the feedback I have received. When I ask my team members for feedback they gave similar responses such as “good or excellent.” A feedback I received that really was interesting was from my team member Roger which is the following, “I think that you were an outstanding leader. You let everyone know what they had to do and you didn’t pester anyone. You made sure the assignment got done with a calm and understanding vibe.” This summarizes how my team members responded to my team leadership because although I am far from a perfect leader everybody in the team managed to get the individual assignments …show more content…
Social skills was one of the most useful skill as a team leader because I needed to communicate with each member and needed to figure out a way on how to communicate with someone who doesn’t use social media as much. Social skills overall helps because it helps your team members know that you are on top of everything and a great leader. The next skill was self-regulation because in order to be a good leader I need to have the ability to control my mood, if I don’t have self-regulation it wouldn’t make the team function well and the atmosphere will have negativity. These two skills were the most particular skills I believe are important when being team …show more content…
Although team members are from different ethnicity backgrounds most team members in Team Shuckle have similarities and work together well. How Team Shuckle operates as a team is well and although we don’t physically see each other throughout the week we use technology to our advantage and make the most of it, and we still manage to get our work done with quality and in a certain amount of time. What my team has accomplished so far is thanks to everybody’s leadership, but for the week that I was the leader my entire team accomplished to complete their individual assignment on the T3 Norm without rushing throughout

I am an RA at Northern Kentucky University. As an RA, I help students transition to college and help them understand how to live on their own away from parents. It is my duty to enforce University Housing policy- to ensure the safety of students plus maintain a positive learning environment. As an RA, I have developed a unique set of skills because I get to work with students to ensure they are receiving a full well rounded college experience while enforcing rules that some tend to break. This can be challenging because I still have to live with them unlike police; for example, they get to go home after they interact with someone so they don’t have to deal with it when their job is over.…

In creating my programs, I didn’t communicate my reasoning and assigned tasks based on my own judgement.…

There were 58 kids that went out for the freshman baseball team, 21 kids made the A/B team. The other 37 kids were on C team. Going into the first practice I was picturing myself in that group of 37 on the C team. One of the reasons I pictured myself on C team was because most kids going out for baseball were 8-10 months older than me and were about 4-6 inches taller than I was. But kids being older and bigger didnt not determined how hard I worked.…

The sustainability team project exposed me to a variety of skills and concepts while dealing with a complex problem, one of them being team conflict. I would like to reflect on this, since my opinion about it has changed, as we progressed through the course. There were various conflicts that occurred during the project, but only one in particular was significant to change my opinion about team conflicts, it was towards the end of the project. When the team was discussing solutions to the complex problem, there was disagreement with the team on what the solution should look like. As, different team members had different opinions and expectations from the project, which led to the conflict within the team.…

I feel as if the group project could have been done a lot better I felt as there was more of a focus on getting to know one another rather than focusing on the assessment. Currently I am not as confident on working with individuals that I don’t know so well as I was when we first started as I realized not everyone in the group had the same approach towards the task as I did especially in terms of prioritization despite this I believe I am more confident in showing leadership as Staci and Emily had other commitments I attempted to accommodate for this by contacting them and working out times when they were both free I believe this was a positive thing as normally in group assessments I have a tendency to rely on other people to make decisions like this and it was a positive experience delegating rather than receiving tasks. Overall working with Staci and Emily was fine as I have a more passive personality in group assignments it was a good learning experience for me a study has also shown that working as group positively influences and facilitates an exchange of knowledge(Shaw, Mitchell and Del Fabbro, 2015) this definitely occurred during our group work when it came to elaborating on social determinants I was able to help both Staci and Emily better understand them while Staci assisted me in learning about the stream factors overall I believe we compensated very well for each other’s gaps of knowledge . On the other side of the spectrum our fourth member Louis was difficult to work with as he contacted us the weekend before the assignment was actually ready to present and this caused a lot of stress and panic, after talking to Emily and Staci they definitely felt the same way about the situation with…

Introduction The coach’s role is to develop the coachee’s resourcefulness through skillful questioning, challenges, and support; not advising because when advice is given, the coach implies that he or she knows best and that the coachee does not (Rogers, 2012). Coaching requires a listening ear to ensure that the coachee is understood and is making decisions that will ultimately help accomplish the goals. During this final coaching session, my client and I will be working together to close the coaching sessions and then determine the next phase of our relationship Pre-Coaching Plan…

This chapter did an excellent job of covering the difference between a leader and a manager, in addition to how the skills could be used together. Reflecting back to the prompt of when I was a manager with an abundance amount of work, I began evaluating what characteristics I demonstrated in the situation. I wanted to know if any of those characteristics had a positive or negative effect over my team. Also, what type of leadership style did I use and was it effective. For the most part I did demonstrate many positive characteristics such as adaptability and cooperativeness, but initially I lacked in areas like providing a clear vision.…

Introduction As I reflect on this course and the results of the Questionnaires, Reflection, and Action Worksheets I have learned many aspects of leadership. I have analyzed the definition of leadership and now have a clearer understanding of it. According to, Introduction to Leadership; concepts and practice, by Peter Northouse (2015), leadership can be composed of many variables such as relationship, trait, ability, skill, behavior, and influence process. He also elaborates on how the “leadership of an individual can be used to influence a group to accomplish a common goal”. In addition, he discusses how leadership is not the same as management (Northouse, 2015, pp. 3-7).…

The Master of Strategic Leadership program has provided me a wealth of invaluable knowledge that can be effectively implemented in any organization to produce positive change. I have already utilized this knowledge to implement successful changes within my own agency that has produced positive outcomes. This program has taught me how to improve upon my own leadership skills by developing the right perspective to perceive situations in a different light. If we view every idea or situation through one lens, we are limiting our capabilities, therefore degrading our ability to realize different options or alternatives. Multi frame expands our perception, therefore providing unlimited possibilities in analyzing a situation, (Smith, 2011).…
