2. Student-teacher relationships-To improve my student-teacher relationship the first thing I will do is get to know my students. I need to find out what they like and dislike, and become approachable. This will help me and the student in the long run because we will have some goodwill built with each other, and they may be able to come to me with personal issues that are hindering their learning. The second thing I would do is listen to my students. It is a sort of dictatorship in the classroom as a teacher, but I feel it is important for students to have some say, or at least feel that they have some say in what we are doing. Your view of students’ abilities- the first thing I would do for this is not base their abilities on standardized tests. They are important for the school system but they do not necessarily measure the student’s ability. Students have a lot of pressure on them to perform well on the tests by the school and as a teacher I need to let them know that it is important for them to perform well on them, but just because they did not score well on it does not mean that their ability is any less than a kid that did do well. The second thing I would do is not embarrass kids that might have disabilities. I will have kids at some point that have dyslexia or adhd and when they need help I don’t need to point out to the class that they need extra help. I can do something simple like pass out graphic organizers and tell the class they don’t have to do them, but talk privately with a student that is struggling and get them to do it. The last thing I would do is group the students properly. There should not be gifted students in one group and students with IEP’s in another group. They should be split up evenly. This will help students scaffold other students that need help, and create and environment where all the students are there to help each …show more content…
Relationships with other teachers- The first thing I would do is make sure I have a positive attitude with other teachers. Students see how we treat each other and positivity can only spread to the students. Students model us whether we want them to or not, and they do not need to see negative attitudes. The second thing I want to do is take the PLC meetings serious. This is for the students and the teachers. We develop lessons and make plans that should be beneficial to the students so it needs to be taken serious. If we as teachers are not on the same page, how can we expect the students to be? The last thing I would do is not discuss other teachers to the students. I have witnesses students bring up other teachers in a negative light and the teacher agree with them. This does nothing to help the students out. It hurts the positive environment we are trying to create. We are role-models for our students and if we can talk bad about or colleagues the students will do the same with their peers and so
