Student and teacher relationships have many benefits for both teacher and student in the classroom. There are many different types of these relationships, from being friends to being mentors to even being something of a mentor or parental figure. However, in recent years, a new type of relationship has come into existence, one that is neither healthy nor legal. When student and teacher relationships blossom into something that is more than just a friendship, people can get hurt, families can be torn apart, communities baffled, and fellow students put at a disadvantage. These illegal sexual student relationships are wrong. The punishment for these crimes is more than fair and if anything should be worse for these teachers.

While this story is one that is known all over the country, it is not an isolated event, there have been countless other events similar to this, where a teacher is able to establish a healthy relationship with their student or students and is able to alter their lives for the better. Whether it is an entire classroom at a high school, or even a single student in a middle school history class, healthy student and teacher relationships have numerous benefits and benefits. However, when these relationships turn into something more than just a simple friendship or mentor, things can become very negative and hurtful.
When student and teachers go past the moral and ethical boundaries that are placed before them in a classroom, things can quickly go bad. Sexual student teacher relationships staring making their appearance in the news in the early 1990s and in today’s modern times, it seems that there is a new story about them in the news almost every other day. From female teachers sexual abusing their middle school students, to high school teachers having sex with their students in exchange for an A in the course, and even elementary students being harassed by their physical education coach, it seems that there is no age that is safe from these, for lack of a better term, sexual predators that have invaded school systems all across the country.
