Preparation and Action In preparation for this scenario, Evan and I discussed who would do the greeting, and who would take …show more content…
If we switch individuals for the next role play, I would try not to introduce new information to the other party to the offence. When I brought up the payment method, he was not aware what Erica had told me, so when I suggested a cheque, he escalated saying you did not even have cash to pay me? This caused the intensity to increase, and causing me to try and bring it back down. For my non-verbal’s I would try to continue to use an assertive tone throughout the situation. When I first talked with Erica, I got her to sit down, I also pulled a chair with the intention to sit on it, but thought I was not able to due to safety, therefore, this time I would sit down in the chair to be at the same eye level.
Actor Reflection During the debrief the actors mentioned how they were insisting we enter the residence, however, we were not sure if we were given permission, therefore, stayed outside. During the scenario we met up with each other a few times to discuss the best solution. I was not sure how the scenario would go since Evan and I are both passive people, but we were able to use that as our strength, work together and head in the right direction for a solution. However, there were times when I would direct Evan to do something, and he would not follow through, such as, when I asked him to take Jeff outside, but after the scenario was over, we discussed it and he unaware we were able to do it. The individual I dealt with the most was Erica Hunt. I thought I built good rapport with Erica. During the scenario she explained how she worked at the casino, and I went further into that conversation by asking what she did their, and if any good bands were coming up. By doing this I built rapport, as well as, distracted her from the problem. At the beginning when I first talked with Erica, I offered her if I could get anything. This showed some support by offering her something that might help calm her down. Further into the scenario, after analyzing the DVD I notice that I was not too empathetic, which is interesting since I thought I was a super empathetic person. However, with this being said, I think I was trying so hard not to come off bias that I forgot one of the best techniques, which is
