My Academic Ability

Improved Essays
In my opinion, there are many various reasons that kept me from performing to the best of my academic ability while I attended my freshman year of college at The University of Oklahoma. I experienced the normal struggles that any regular college student would, but I also dealt with many bigger and tougher trials during the fall semester that eventually carried over into the spring semester, as well. A few weeks before the fall semester ended, I had a huge boulder dropped on my shoulders when I was informed that my parents were getting a divorce after being married for over twenty years. The terrible news that I had received eventually took a huge toll on not only my academic career, but also my personal and family life. My parents had been married my entire life, so when reality finally set in that the decision was not going to change, I …show more content…
If a person were to question any of my previous high school teachers or classmates about my academic performance as a student, he or she would be impressed with all of the positive feed back about all of the hard work and time that I put into my school work. From my freshman year of high school to my senior year, I managed to maintain over a 4.0 grade point average, score a 26 on the ACT, and completed twelve concurrent credit hours while enrolled at NOC Enid. Of the twelve concurrent credit hours attempted, I received three “A’s” and one “B” and eventually finished with a 3.75 grade point average, missing a perfect 4.0 grade point average because of an 89% in Late American History. It has come to my knowledge that there is a limited amount of spots in the ENG 102 class for next semester. I am one of the best candidates to continue into ENG 102 and thrive in Ms. Laduca’s learning environment. Although I do not fear that I have not already earned my spot, I will proceed to justify my case. I have been an adroit student of Ms. LaDuca’s for the last year and a half; she knows exactly what kind of student I am. Since seventh grade, I have been an ebullient honors student in the top ten percent of the 2016 cohort and have not received any grades lower than an A. I always exceed expectations, put in 110% of my effort, and achieve and maintain excellent grades at the same time.…

It is a bit surreal to think that I will be a senior at Endicott College in the fall. It feels as if just yesterday that I was 17-years-old, applying to colleges and hoping that once I secured a face-to-face interview, that I would be able to explain why my grades suffered my freshman year of high school. I was hoping that once in an interview that a reputable college would take a chance on me, to take into consideration the bullying I endured, for me to showcase my academic abilities. Endicott was that school. In 2013, I graduated Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School and never looked back.…

Everyone learns and studies differently so in order to really succeed you must find what works for you, and how to keep everything in order. It took me forever to really understand I needed to find my own organization and study tactics. Along with organization the need to use my failures to rise up in my classes really led me to maintain high grades. In my edblog “Failure” I discuss the troubles of failure and how to use it to construct a foundation for school.
