Stephen Hawking "Cosmologist Stephen Hawking is regarded as one of the most brilliant theoretical physicists since Albert Einstein." (Stephen Hawking Biography). However, he is destined for death... Stephen Hawking is a cosmologist, physicist, and profound author who was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, better known as Lou Gehrig 's disease or ALS. Even though he was diagnosed with a terminal disease, this did not stop Hawking from becoming one of the most recognizable icons in today’s times. If Hawking would have let this disease take him in the two and a half years that the doctors gave him to live, he wouldn 't have advanced the world of science with his ground-breaking …show more content…
The Hawkings lived in St. Albans and their house was a three-story house that was poor in furnishing. The Hawkings weren’t your traditional family, for they were described as “...an ‘eccentric’ bunch. Dinner was often eaten in silence, each of the Hawkings intently reading a book.” (Stephen William Hawking). Hawking’s father, the head of the Division of Parasitology at the National Institute of Medical Research, wished for young

He ended up with a Ph.D. in cosmology, but it was Cambridge where Hawking was notified of his death …show more content…
Hawking worked on many of things in the scientific world such as the original structure of the universe, the Big Bang, and theories on black holes have changed science forever. Hawking had also invented a unique wheelchair to help battle his illness. His wheelchair allowed him to type what he wanted to say with his hand, the only part of his body that isn 't completely paralyzed, and it would say what he typed aloud. Stephen has become dependant on his voice automated wheelchair. This invention still allows him to have oral communication, write books, and jot down notes or findings while researching. Hawking had been able to defy the odd of what thought possible with such a life threatening disease. Eve his own troublesome home life couldn’t get the best of
