1. What is the title of the text and what is the text about?
The title of the article is ‘Stanford prison experiment continues to shock’. It is basically a review or an analysis of the Stanford Prison Experiment which happened 40 years ago in the basement of Stanford University. The experiment used participants from the University for the experiment in exchange for a little cash. The experiment was to see if the violence in prison is as a result of criminal background or is it based on the roles to which they were assigned. The author Leithead (2011) explains why this experiment was a bad idea.
2. What is the author’s view? How do I know?
The author’s view was against the study because of the word he used such as “Cruel Guard” (Leithead, 2011. para. 7) and “Ethically Wrong” (Leithead, 2011. para. 28). He also used valuable evidence to back up his claims. Looking at the topic of the article, we can also clearly see that he was not in support of this experiment.

Have I heard/read anything similar or dissimilar? What was it?
Yes. I have read something similar to this before. In a Psychology class, I read the original report and I had to do a summary of the experiment. The original report I am referring to is Haney, Banks & Zimbardo (1973). I also read a couple other reviews on the Stanford Prison study which gave an analysis of the whole study.
7. Do I agree or disagree with the views expressed by the author? Why?
I personally agree with the author. own opinion about the study since then. My opinions have not changed because I still believe, just like many other people who have read it, that this study went too far. The treatments were cruel and inhumane and this caused many side effects. The participants will live with those memories for the rest of their lives, along with any psychological issues that they may have
