Example Of Narrative Essay On Dendera

Great Essays
Change is a beautiful thing. If one happens to be stranded somewhere opposed to change, however, that beautiful thing becomes a goal that is near impossible to achieve. Dendera wanted this change to happen, a change that she knew she needed to fight tooth and nail for. She also knew that every change had to start as something seemingly unimportant, and so she had set out to make a change that day. The leaves fell around her, a whirling storm of red and orange tearing off the trees as the wind blasted her in the face mercilessly. Her shoes hit the pavement noisily as she walked down the battered and decrepit street, the asphalt cracking underneath her as more of it broke off into rubble. A soft hum filled the air, and in no time at all she …show more content…
Where have you been?! The teachers have been going crazy trying to find you!” “I promise you I wasn’t trying to be late. My car just broke down again and I had to walk the rest of the way here.” Miguel sighed and started to lead her into the building, passing by the front office. “Well, you’ve already missed the first ten minutes of our math class, so you can look off my notes or Makenna’s.” Dendera quickly ran into the office to sign in and grab a pass, then the two of them hurried through the deserted hallways to their first hour. Immediately upon entering the classroom the teacher, Mr. Cohen, glared at her and gestured for her to take her seat. The two of them always sat at a small table in the back of the room, where it was dark and nobody bothered them. Already sitting at the table was a blonde girl, obviously a cheerleader, who was diligently writing down everything Mr. Cohen was saying. Makenna, however, had been trying to become their friend for many years before they finally caved and let her. Makenna looked up at them as they took their seats, and a wide grin spread across her …show more content…
You what?” Makenna said softly, in shock.
Dendera looked away from her. Thoughts were racing through her head, faster than cars on a race track, faster than a starship speeding through the cosmos at the speed of life. Was she going to out her now? Was she going to push her away and never want to see her again? Makenna may not be the best friend, but she was one of Dendera’s only friends. Makenna, seeing the look on Dendera’s face, gently put a hand on her shoulder.
“Hey… That’s okay. I’m not going to hate you or anything. This is just… new.”
“I know. I just,” Dendera paused, still trying to keep herself from having a breakdown, “I didn't want to hide. I didn’t want to be afraid anymore.”
“It’s okay.” Makenna gave her a smile, which if Dendera hadn’t known her better it would have seemed malicious. “I’m not going to tell anyone if you don’t want me to.”
“Thank you…” Dendera gave her a nervous smile in return. In all reality she was still terrified, her heart racing a million miles a minute. Before she could say anything more, however, Miguel entered the classroom and returned to his seat next to them. Makenna immediately went quiet, but her grin remained glued to her face. Miguel looked between them, seemingly

When I try to imagine that dead tiger shark in suspended animation, glorified in a steel box of formaldehyde, I can’t help but see it in motion.
