Would you betray a friend because you believe in fate? Lani did the worst thing you could ever do to someone you call a friend. No friend should betray their friend over a boy. She has straight black hair with bangs, hazel-blue eyes, and is 17 years old. Lani and her best friend Erin were both going through changes with their life. It involved their love life and feeling a certain way about someone they never felt before. The only problem was they were falling in love with the same boy. Jason was dating Erin but also liked Lani and she liked him too. Lani, the protagonist of “Something Like Fate” by Susane Colasanti and I are not similar. Some people think I’m mean because the way my facial expression is always a straight face. Others think I am quiet because if I don't know you then you won’t hear much from me. People always call me the fast girl from Euclid. Folks from different schools and cities know me from track. The way people viewed Lani and me are totally different. My family thinks i’m spoiled and can get what I want. Everyone actually thinks i’m spoiled even though i’m not. A lot of people think I am funny. Especially my aunt she always say I could be a comedian. Teachers and family members think I’m also smart. She wasn't thinking about how her best friend would feel. Her and Jason started hanging out at school during lunch more. They even spent the whole summer together while Erin was gone at camp. He broke up with Erin through a letter and she was heart broken. During the summer both of them had to be cautious when they were together. If anyone from school saw them hanging out they would tell Erin. Since they couldn’t make it known that they were hanging out Lani snuck out. She would sneak out the house every night just to be with him. They were spending a lot of time together which made them like each other even more. Once Erin got back from camp she didn't tell her about them and what they did all summer together. Lani told him they couldn’t talk no more when she got back until one of them told her.
