In the article “Some Moral Minima” I believe Lenn Goodman is right when he says certain things are just wrong. Goodman discusses that every human has a right to live in freedom and to be treated compassionately as human beings. I think that Goodman’s main point is not to judge issues that we do not understand, but should judge things that are ethically correct. Goodman is correct on his issues because there is never a good time to be immoral. I believe that all law abiding citizens have the right to live their lives without fear. Criminals do not have the right to commit disruptive acts of crime. According to Singer (2005) estimates that there are some 300,000 child soldiers, voluntary, semi-voluntary, or coerced, under arms today. Goodman talks about slavery as an erroneous act in the article, and I really agree with his views on this subject. In the past slavery, was viewed as right of one people to own and view another people and cattle and property because they were captors of war sold into slavery. Goodman (2010) explains how slavery keeps its victim alive while stripping her of agency, assigning it to others who do not share her projects, hopes, or interests, but subordinate her capabilities to their wants. Goodman speaks on the new form for slavery which is human trafficking. Immigration and Naturalization Service report that human traffickers include small gangs, crime syndicates, and drug cartels. Recruiters, abductors, transporters, safe houses, forgers, debt enforcers, brothel owners and sweatshops operators, work the pipeline of human misery. Fraud, extortion, racketeering, money laundering, bribery, drug use, gambling are associated crimes. But central here is the inhuman use of human beings. The victimizers find human cargo easier to ship than drugs, less severely punished, and more profitable. As one immigration office put it “Drugs are sold only once.
