1. I don’t agree with that social theories only valuable if they can accurately predict future events. Social theory also have other roles, like description and explanation. I consider Social theory has many roles play in our life, provide the social knowledge, Explain why it happened and predict future. Use the social theory to describe and explain the event is the best way to understand the nature of things. First example is criminology, the social theory can help to find the reason of criminology and through specific data analysis this behavior. Because high income family usually can get good education and the education help people reduce the rate of crime. For this situation, Social theory help us explain event. Sociology theories can help us explain the event more clear and convinced. Second example, Most of us like drinking coffee when feel sleepy. But it is not the only role of coffee. On the other hand the social theory provide another factor of why people like drinking coffee, sometimes drinking coffee can be a media of communication. When we meet friend a cup of coffee making atmosphere more comfortable. Social theory can explain why coffee makes thing different. So I think predict future is not only valuable role of social theory.

I consider it reasonable. In our social life, everything has their regularities, the social regularity is a good method for sociologist to researching the event and group behavior. The first example, I was lived in Shanghai for couple of years, the subway station always have security guard to direct the traffic at Monday to Friday 6:00am- 9:00am, course of the morning rush. This is an obviously social regularities, most people choose take the subway at that time. Maybe some people choose avoid the morning rush, but it is just a few people’s choice, it can’t present most people’s choice. The subway station still need has security guard in subway station at the morning rush, rather than cancel the security for those small amount people who avoid the morning rush. So that’s why sociologists interested in social regularities among aggregates. Second example, Mcdonald’s just have breakfast at morning, do not have Big Mac in the morning. I usually order an egg burger and a cup of coffee in the morning, I think this most people’s choice, so Mcdonald’s doesn’t make the other hamburger like Big Mac. Maybe there are some people want have a Big Mac in the morning, but the social regularity among aggregates described most people’s choice.
