Personal Narrative-My Snowboarding Career

Whenever I would compete in any type competition, my mom would always say, “It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, you are here and that’s all that matters.” My snowboarding career began when my parents purchased a house in Killington, Vermont, a mere decade before I was born. After I turned two years old, my parents would travel to their elegant cottage in Vermont every two weeks in the winter with me. From an extraordinarily young age, I developed a deep passion for snow sports. My dad taught me how to ski when I was just two years old, and I was a naturally exceptional skier. By the age of four, I surpassed my father’s skiing skills, who has been skiing for over twenty years. I soon discovered the concept of snowboarding and developed an ardor for the sport. I would sit on the side of all the trails and the terrain parks and watch the snowboarders fly by. …show more content…
I began to push myself harder than ever to expand my knowledge on more new and advanced tricks. One of my first injuries was a severe shoulder injury. When I visited the emergency room, the doctor examined my livid shoulder and advised me not to snowboard for at least two months due to the severity of the injury. Hearing the scraping of the ice underneath me and the cracking of my bones discouraged me to continue the sport. I was devastated and heartbroken, but the encouragement of my family and friends helped me get back on the steep, snowy mountain in two days.Regardless of the unfortunate accident, I continued to push myself to do better than ever. To no surprise, I continued to experience serious injuries. I had about three minor concussions and one major concussion in the span of five years. Additionally, I also fractured my wrist and both of my knee caps, multiple times, by falling on the transparent, lustrous ice. Despite enduring an immense amount of pain, I continued to enhance my
