Simple Habits For Living Book Report

Many of us get caught up in the daily rat race, and often times we forget to take care of the most important person, which is ourselves. As wives, daughters, and mothers we forget to appreciate the little things, or take care of us, due to living life and caring for others. Waking up with a positive mind, living with gratitude and exercise are some key elements I have incorporated into to my daily living, thanks to the book I chose to read (Scott & Davenport
2017).
The book I decided to read and incorporate in my life is 10-Minute Mindfulness 71
Simple Habits for Living in the Present Moment by S.J. Scott & Barrie Davenport. This book immediately called my attention, because, at the end of the day, everyone can incorporate some changes to their

I live a very fast life, and don’t take time to myself, however, by reading this book, it has given me a better approach to take on these new habits and begin a better way of living my life. I often struggle to make change, however, with guidance and tools, small changes can be made to improve our lifestyle.
One of the reasons why I chose 10-Minute Mindfulness 71 Simple Habits for Living in the Present Moment by S.J. Scott & Barrie Davenport, is because with this book we can make small changes in just 10 minutes without having the stress of having to join a particular group, religion or organization. This book shows you how to live a better life without all the typical distractions of society (Scott & Davenport, 2017, p.12-15). Many people I know have often recommended yoga, meditation or other types of therapy to help me with every day stressors, but the fact of the matter is these activities take time. I need something I can incorporate daily that does not take too much time nor require driving somewhere, yet helps me make changes.

The other habit that made an impact on me is decreasing distractions. The book indicates that people check their phones on an average of 150 times per day (Scott & Davenport, 2017,
p.114). The book indicated that we are becoming addicted to all social media and smart phone activity. The article I read agrees with the book I read. The article that I read indicates that social media is an addiction, and studies were conducted which indicate that excessive use of social media increases isolation and leads to mental health issues (Guedes et al., 2016).
This book has made an impact in my life thus far. I started reading this book since the day when this course started. I have incorporated many habits, but these two are the ones that in my current situation I know will play a big part in my lifestyle. As previously stated, living an active lifestyle is very important, and just because you are active a couple of days a week, it is not sufficient to reduce your risk of disease. Social media is an addiction; however, I don’t

After I read the 7 habits book, I started to know that I don’t actually have an appropriate balance among the various aspects of my life (family, friends, work, and so forth). I started to know this as I read the RBA (relationship bank account) pages. I came to know that about me because in the RBA section, RBA deposits and RBA withdrawals, I read the RBA deposits and I didn’t fit into all of them, but as I read the RBA withdrawals I came to know that I fitted into almost everything like Break promises, Talk too much, and Keep to yourself. I always do these kind of stuff to my friends, peers, and my best friends which makes it harder to keep up with my relationships. In the habit 4 worksheet, I had a lot of situations that relates to win- lose and lose- win attitude which I could have easily changed to a win- win situation, but I didn’t…

The book that made a lasting impression on me and shaped the person who I am today is “Quiet Strength” by Tony Dungy. I have read this book multiple times throughout my life, the first time being when I was 13 and my mother suggested I read the book as I was selected captain of my middle school basketball team. Every time I read this book, I take a new perspective on life and take away a new quote that I try to apply to my life. One quote that stuck with me from my most recent read through, which occurred in fall of 2015, is: “It’s about the journey — mine and yours — and the lives we can touch, the legacy we can leave, and the world we can change for the better.” As a growing student leader, this statement was so powerful.…

Great Intentions + Action = Miracles “It's exhausting, tiptoeing around someone who barges into your life with good intentions.”
~ Gretta Mulrooney, The Lady Vanished One of the tragedies of life is people with magnificent intentions, which simply meddles in their mind as a puff of a dream but nothing more because there is no action to express and create their intentions. Most people want to grow, learn and go beyond where find themselves. But most people are not growing, learning and expanding, because there is no action behind their intentions. Intentions without action is exactly why they are struggling in their faith, relationships, business and personal life!…

Reading the book Creativity flow and the psychology of discovery and invention was an eye-opening experience. All though, it was repetitive and dull at times, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi manages to fill the book with extremely insightful and thought-provoking ideas on life. He continually managed to shift gears from a slow pacing book to an Awakening masterpiece. That was a first for me because I usually hate slow books. If you also want to be proven wrong that slow and dull books can have a lot of meaning, then I suggest you read Creativity flow and the psychology of discovery and invention.…
