Grey’s Anatomy: A Superb Medical Drama Have you ever watched a television show that has made you laugh and cry in the same episode? Shows that can make you happy and sad can be considered as a drama genre. Most medical shows exaggerate and portray situations as if they would be impossible to relate to. Grey’s Anatomy is the opposite of any typical medical television show. Grey’s Anatomy is an excellent television drama because it features real life trauma scenes, romantic relationships among the characters, and the difficulties of becoming a surgeon. The chief of surgery, Richard Webber, and the main character, Meredith Grey’s mother, Ellis Grey, were having an affair when Ellis was still a surgeon at Seattle Grace. Ellis was soon diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease after Meredith became a surgical intern at SGH; because of this, Ellis and Richards love was rekindled but was never complete after Ellis passed from her disease. Neurosurgeon, Derek Shepherd and surgical intern, Meredith Grey, met in a local bar across the street from SGH and ended up going home together; this started the love story no one would ever forget in the entire series of Grey’s Anatomy. Soon after Grey and Shepherd’s love story started to begin, Meredith proceeds to discover that Derek himself was still married to neonatal surgeon, Addison Shepherd who had an affair with Derek’s best friend, Mark Sloan.
