I see my responsibility to America as the same as most people. Most people believe they know their responsibility to America is by paying taxes and obeying the laws that are in place so the country runs smoothly, however, most people are also wrong. The real responsibility we have to America is making it a better place by lowering the number of hate crimes committed, decreasing the poverty rates and decreasing our personal debt. There are no logical reasons as to why hate crimes are still occurring everywhere in the United States because we’re all apart of the same country and we pride ourselves on our diversity as a nation. The United States of America was formerly looked at as the greatest country in the world and we’ve let that title slip…

English Essay 1 Daniel Akst begins his essay “Thrift: The Rebirth of a Forgotten Virtue” by using legendary television show host, Jack Benny’s as an example of his cheapness to show how the term “thrift” has had a negative connotation for years. Saving money is just what it sounds like, putting money received from either income or assets into a place where it can be safe and accumulate over time. Unlike investing where the money put in can grow on its own, saving does not self-compound enough on its own, and requires a repeated effort of depositing money over and over in order to grow. This just goes to show how financially illiterate americans currently are; however, surveys do show that kids who take courses to enhance financial literacy are more likely to go on to save money in the future (Malcolm 3).…
