Leonardo Defilippis’ heart touching film, Thérèse: The Story of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, illustrates the story of a young girl who loves God with all her heart. The life of St. Thérèse of Lisieux is considered as one of the important stories ever because of how she was the most popular saint of modern times, who made an impact in the world. Defilippis’ is able to capture “her faith, trials, and sacrifices that reveal a way of life based on love and simplicity” in a perfect manner (“Thérèse: The Story of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux”). In addition, this film demonstrates perfectly on how to love God, and how to get to Heaven just by seeing Thérèse as a great example. This film can be shown to anyone of any age, religious or non-religious, and still, have the power to …show more content…
In fact, Thérèse’s story still continues to impact hundreds of people around the world. I feel closer to my God at this very moment because I believe he understands my struggles and the pain I go through in my daily life just like how God understood Thérèse’s suffrage. For example, Thérèse faced tuberculosis with strong beliefs that God is with her as she endures this disease because she knew God is there for her. Even when she was about to die, she never hated God, but loved God even more by saying that she loves god forever as her last words. Throughout the film, Thérèse teaches everyone “…that love could only be captivating when a person trusts completely in a loving God. [Hence] [t]hat trust has to be stated every day in the way we pray and live out the responsibilities and demands of our lives”, so we could develop a stronger relationship with our God (Russell). To sum up, we must take each day with great importance because God gifted our life and we should recognize its’ value starting from day one, just like how Thérèse knew the importance of God’s love throughout her
