Before I give more reasons of this I am going to set the stage this is Romeo and Juliet's first time meeting each other at the party, this is how Romeo reacts on on act 2 scene one it says “My lips , two blushing pilgrims , ready stand to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss.” The first time Romeo has a conversation with Juliet, he already says that he wants to kiss her.How could this be shown as love when in a loving relationship shows a deep connection of getting to know each other and a healthy, loving relationship takes time Romeo is showing lust, not love let’s say you are at a concert and you see this person you are not going to say hey you want to kiss no usually you say nice to meet you I am John Adam’s. That is establishing boundaries, wanting to become a friend first not wanting to kiss them. That is the basic fundamentals of a healthy relationship. Romeo is showing lust, not wanting to get to know Juliet as a person to establish a friendship.Another reason is on act 2 scene 1 The narrator of the play says this “Now Romeo is beloved and loves again alike by charm and good looks.” The narrator is saying that Romeo is physically attracted to Juliet not her personality that Romeo falls for someone again by their good looks. That does not mean love the narrator never says Romeo cares about Juliet and is thinking about getting to know her. Romeo and Juliet show only a physical attraction for each other. They are only showing signs of lust towards each other. At the famous balcony scene in the play both Romeo and Juliet are talking and right when Romeo is about to leave, he says, will you leave me unsatisfied and Juliet is saying how she can’t unless we get married and Romeo just agrees to it says okay kind of conveying their feelings towards each other but Romeo just wants to have a physical relationship he never wanted to truly love
