Due to the programs that are included throughout Article 7, Response to Intervention is extremely significant in determining an individual’s behavior requirements. “Response to Intervention (RTI) is a multi-tier approach to the early identification and support of students with learning and behavior needs”, according to the RTI Action Network. RTI provides early intervening services to students who are struggling to expand specific abilities. This approach is used to identify students who have learning disabilities as well. Response to Intervention guarantees to change the way the school supports all students with learning and behavior difficulties by systematically delivering a variety of interventions based on the established and essential …show more content…
The teacher provides a clear definition of the student’s academic, behavioral problem and provides an explanation as to why the problems are occurring. The general education teacher also selects ‘research-based’ interventions and documents the student’s intervention plans while also monitoring the student’s progress. Monitoring the student’s progress includes assessing the student to see if the RTI is aiding the student’s needs. Overall, the teacher knows exactly what the student’s next steps are when the student fails to make adequate progress with Tier 1 interventions alone. However, the special education teacher is not as prominent, but the special education teacher can still provide expertise if an evaluation needs to be considered. Tier 3 is rather significant for the special education teacher to provide additional assistance as well as assess and monitor the student’s growth in order to know how to help the student transition. Overall, the special education students are not discriminated against and therefore treated as equal as the general education students.
