Education in the United States of America is one of the biggest and most reputed education systems in the world. Students from all over the world come to the United States because of the high quality of education imparted there. “A record number of international students — nearly 820,000 — came to U.S. colleges in the 2012/2013 school year, says the Institute of International Education” (Chappell). What Singh said is true, his article suggests that students who are studying in private schools in India or any other south Asian country perform better than students in government schools. The main reason behind this is, in these countries due to the lack of stable government they have not been able to develop government schools in an effective way in these countries. People who have lot of money and can afford the bills of private schools sends their children to private school but the people who cannot afford the expenses of private school are forced to send their children to government school. When people see it from outside, people think whether its private or government school children’s are going to school but the children who are going to government school are not getting good guidance and proper education that they need. In United States it is different than that of India or any other south Asian country, because government school in America is as good as private school. In America even if a family is poor they can send their children to the local school nearby since government waves all the education expenses of the student. As a result of this, United States’ literacy rate is about 97% which is very good. Almost all students get a chance to go to school in the United States but this does not happen in other countries except few. In many countries a student’s family has to pay all the bills of schooling, which might be difficult for some families. If their family cannot pay it they will be deprived of education. Even if they want to study they cannot because their family cannot pay for their school expenses. Financial aid policy is one of the most important policies in higher education. In the United States students can apply for student loans which will cover all of the expenses, including living expenses if the student is living on campus, but many countries do not offer student loans like America does.
