A great example of the Dynavox in use is the Sensory Santa. The sensory Santa is a disabled man who lives right here in Watertown, NY. Every year he dresses up as Santa Claus and takes pictures with children. This past Christmas, he visited The Sensory Nook and brought his Dynavox. After watching him use his Dynavox, one would become very intrigued. Deciding to go have a look at his Dynavox, there were all these preset phrases. One of the very cool phrases he had for this occasion was “Hi, my name is Santa Claus!” After seeing the Dynavox in action, someone would just be amazed at the level of technology that consumers have access to in one’s …show more content…

However, in 2008 “research focused on the temporal lobe because of the finding that previously healthy people who sustain temporal lobe damage may develop autistic-like symptoms.” Even though there has been no discovered cause of autism, there are some risk factors that may lead to autism.
The biggest risk factor of autism is if the parents were advanced in age at the time of conception. This means that if the mother/father was seventy and they conceived a child, this child would be more likely to develop autism in the uterus. Another risk factor of autism is if the mother gets sick during pregnancy. If this happens and oxygen can not get to the baby’s brain then autism may occur. Besides being affected in the uterus, the child can be affected after birth. Many autistic children can develop food allergies. For example most children on the spectrum are lactose intolerant.
