Observation:

Journal two of the Westminster College class EDU 562 Field Experience was related to observation and participation with a first grade classroom, on Wednesday, January 6, 2016. This morning was a bit different, the teacher had not yet arrived in the classroom and the students began to enter the room. At that time the school Principal came into the classroom and informed that the teacher was out today with a sick daughter. The Principal advised that he would be staying in the classroom all day. Most of the day the students were well behaved, however there were a few minor social incidents. One student started to cry because he lost is pencil and thought someone

The class selected penguins and polar bears as the animals they wanted to explore. This first week we started talking about penguins. I read a story about penguins and a fact book about them too. Once I was finished reading the book the student with the helper job, passed out coloring pages of penguins. The students had to use their fine and gross motor skills to color and cut out the parts of the penguins. As the students were coloring their penguins, we made copies of their math homework to do for next day. Once the students completed their penguin the Principle helped to write their names on the back of their penguins to become familiar with their names. Then the students moved to the purple carpet for my reading lesson plan. Since the teacher was not there I could not show the book or my PowerPoint on the screen. I had to improvise, and sat in front of the class and read the story. Once I walked through the words that were highlighted in the story which happened to be some of their spelling test words I read the story once. Second time I had the students act out the different characters in the story since it was play. After we read the story …show more content…

Also a teacher must be a person that can be flexible and react in many situations. This was reflected when the teacher was absent and having to lead the students with the Principle. With the teacher being absent, this gave me an opportunity to determine if teaching first grade was the right age for me and how comfortable I presented myself in front of the

Field Experience Working as a Para educator in the Mt. Pleasant School District had opened my understanding about how important it is the job of a teacher. As I observed Mrs. Ensminger performed her duties, it has confirmed my conviction that a teacher is a teacher because they do not see their duties as a job it is a calling. Mrs. Ensminger, a level 1 special education teacher, is already at school no later than 7:15 am. Before school even starts she is already coordinated with core class teachers what she need to work on every individual student under her care. First period in her class is Science.…

This is to report the attitude of a field supervisor, Mr. Rogger Bucheli, because I don’t want a field supervisor, who would, out of his own negligence, put me into trouble at the site where I work. On one Friday/Saturday early morning—3:25am (02/11/2017), Rogger Bucheli came to the Central RV Storage where I work and called me on the phone. When I answered the call, he asked me if I was at work. I told him that I was not at work. He asked me where I was that I was supposed to be at work.…

Following the first five days of field experience observations, the word that comes to mind is exhausted! I observed the instructor to always be constantly moving. I was shocked at how the educator always knew what was going on everywhere in the classroom. The statement having "eyes in the back of your head" was true. Teachers were getting their early, and staying late, and always seemed happy and ready to go the next day.…

From my own experiences, I am preparing myself to become the good teacher I described in the first question. My experiences that have given me the opportunity to become the good teacher I described before is through field experiences and making lesson plans. In a previous field experience of mine, I had a frustrating and challenging time. The structure of the classes for field experience and the teachers made the semester a bit stressful. However, I knew that I needed to keep pushing and learning as much as I could so that I could be confident in teaching certain subjects.…
