Islam vs. Christianity From the establishment of these two religions to today’s modern world, both Islam and Christianity have evolved into two of the most practiced religions in the world. These two religions were actually founded in the same region but at different times. Christianity was founded in 41 A.D. by Jesus of Nazareth, while Islam was founded in 622 CE by the prophet Muhammad. Jesus of Nazareth is believed, by Christians to be the Messiah, the son of God. His teachings and miracles gained him many followers, like his twelve disciples, who followed and supported him leading up to his death. Both religions support this statement by St. Thomas Aquinas: “The better the creature the more fully it reflects and also promotes the goodness of God, and hence imitates him. The nearer a thing approaches the divine likeness, the more perfect it is. The most perfect form in the material world is the human body; being the locus of the soul, which is the lowest in the hierarchy of spiritual substances, it is therefore connected ultimately to the divine nature.” (St. Thomas
