My rebellious nature can be seen as weakness of mine by other people. Sometimes it is a struggle for me to see the point in doing things I find to be a waste of time, such as SMART goals. I have had to do SMART goals at past jobs and I did not find them helpful to me. When you see an issue, you fix it; you do not make a plan to fix the issue since, by identifying the issue you see what needs to be done. I often find corporate propaganda ridiculous and often feel like it is talking down to the employee. In an effort to do my job effectively, I normally try to put a spin or twist on such tasks, not only to make myself not feel as if I am being spoken down to, but so my employees do not feel as though they are being spoke down to either. Much of the corporate propaganda that trickles down feels as if upper management has lost touch with their workforce. By putting the corporate propaganda in terms that work better for me and my employees, I am able to keep my employees happy and the company happy; “… the key characteristic demonstrated by the best leaders is the ability to inspire and motivate oneself as well as other.” (Zenger & Folkman, 2013)

To reach this goal I will complete my course work within a timely manner by creating a weekly schedule. This schedule will not only detail how I proceed in a course but also account for my work schedule, as well as, recreational time. I will spend three and a half hours, six nights a week completing my course reading, working on papers, or studying for tests, depending on what needs to be done to complete the course. By receiving my masters, I will have learned new skills that will help me become a better leader and employee.
