I believe that providing freedom from sickness is by far the greatest service that one can offer to improve a human life. The years that I spent in medical school fostered profound intellectual, emotional, and personal growth in me. My experiences in different rotations have helped me realize that I wanted to be a Family medicine physician.Firstly the opportunity to care of patients from the prenatal age to the geriatrics age of life is a gratifying experience in total. Secondly Family medicine gives me the chance to serve the under-served rural and low-income urban population many of whom cannot afford specialized medical care services. Thirdly being a Family physician I would not only be able to diagnose and treat the patients but also play a part in providing preventive care and have a chance in shaping the health care policy reforms which is the dire need of the 21st century to avoid many preventable illness . My experiences working at different hospitals have helped me to effectively understand and appreciate the multi-disciplinary approach of American health care. I cherished these opportunities to work under physicians and to be part of a team where I interacted with students, residents, nurses, social workers, and other key members who contribute to patient care. Currently, I am working as a researcher at the MD Anderson Cancer Center to contribute to our growing body of cancer research.
