When you see ads on social campaigns you notice how clever they are getting in order to catch the reader 's eye. The point of social campaigns is to make people aware of the things that are going on in the world, with the goal that things will change eventually. The way something is brought up to someone determines if the person will listen or not. Social campaigns are doing everything they can to make young people know about the dangers of smoking and also to ensure to them that they are always being supported. Although smoking in the U.S has declined at a rate of 15.7 percent it is still a huge problem. When teen really lights a cigarette they should be thinking about how their life can change completely so fast just by one cigarette.Young adults are not realizing what cigarettes are nicotine, and “Nicotine from cigarettes is as addictive as heroin” (smokefree.gov). Some effects may be quicker than others but still have the same outcome of death. With so many young adults using media and technology they should really be looking at websites about cigarette use. Not only is the person smoking harming themselves but also, they are harming their peers around them. Second Hand smoking is a very common thing, “over 7,000 chemicals have been found in secondhand smoking”(smokefree.gov). It is one thing to be selfish with yourself but you can not stand their and take someone else 's life just because you have a problem and they do not. Smoking cigarettes increases the chances of you developing lung cancer, heart disease, and strokes. For the teens that smoke a few cigarettes for the “ cool factor” and think it will not cause harm to them, are very wrong “Even people who smoke fewer than five cigarettes a day can have early signs of cardiovascular disease”(CDC.org).
