“Somewhere in America a woman is raped every 2 minutes” (Maloney). This statistic shows the harsh reality of being a female. A majority of Americans will experience rape or sexual assault at some point in their lives. Sexual assault in America is a problem. The solution to that issue is to offer safe spaces for the victims to report sexual assault and to get help. Also, to educate students and the public that sexual assault is not acceptable and explain the consequences. Law enforcement needs to become stricter in the rape cases they get and respond rapidly. Some severe cases have resulted in the murder of the victim. Less horrific cases can result in bruises, cuts, scrapes, broken bones and worst of all emotional disorders. These effects can ruin someone 's life if they do not get the help that they need to cope. Rape can also end in pregnancy. The mother of the child has the right to do whatever she feels best doing with the child whether it is keeping it, aborting it, or putting it up for adoption.
