Family Probes: Case Study

Family Probes: The family lives in 3 bedroom house. The master bedroom is downstairs and the boys’ bedrooms are upstairs. Each bedroom, as well as the living room, has a television. The main television in the living room has several gaming systems that the family plays together often. A typical day, according to Tarea, is she gets up at 4:30 a.m. to be at work at 6:00 a.m. She calls each son at 6:45 a.m. to make sure they are up and getting ready for school. Daniel gets up at 7:00 a.m. and takes the Kason to school at 7:30 a.m. Kadan drives himself. Tarea works until at least 5:00 p.m. Daniel works varies hours. Both boys go to baseball practice after school and Kadan picks Kason up afterwards. Suppers are eaten together, if it be home cooked …show more content…
It could be that Daniel may feel neglected by Tarea because of her dedication to her job and her recent medical problems. In the mezzo level, Daniel’s work is a contributing factor in the presenting problem. His affairs all started with women he worked with. His work friends knew he was married and encouraged the affairs so Daniel would go out with them on weekends. This peer pressure is something that Daniel could have over looked but eventually gave in to and committed adultery. It is hard to speculate about the macro level because more information would be needed from the family. There was nothing past the work environment discussed within the group.
Recommendations: I recommend Daniel and Tarea seek marital counseling. The family should continue to have open communication and possibly seek counseling as a family. I also recommend that Daniel and Kason seek professional help to work on their anger issues because they can be a stressor in the family dynamics. Daniel should spend more time with each son, together and separately, to do things besides baseball. He should allow each son to pick an activity for them to do for an afternoon

Some do not even remember how young they were when they started in the fields, like 12 year old Zulema. It was passed down to these children like their parents had it passed down to them and so on. It’s a perpetual cycle of generations, partly because it is all they know and also due to the values instilled in them.…

The purpose of this study is to examine how the media portrays parent-child communication about sex and the role that family structure plays in the communication between the parent and child. This area of study is important to examine as we know that the media can shape the perspectives of individuals, however it leaves us to question to what extent the media shapes conversations about sex within a family unit. We may often take for granted how our opinions are influenced by media and that we, as a society, might not acknowledge their full impact on family communication. Our hope in conducting this analysis of a television show is to discover how and why parent-child communication about sex occurs and how that relates to the family structure presented in a television show that has aired in the past 10 years. Given our limitation on time and resources, we used the Netflix database to find potential shows that could provide multiple examples of parent-child communication.…

Model of Family Therapy The Experiential Family Therapy model is a theory that was developed by the practitioners of Carl, Whitaker, Walter Kempler and Virginia Satir. With the Experiential Family Therapy Model, the goal of the therapist is to catalyze the natural drive of the family to reach growth and the full potential of the individual members of the family. Still, the individual practitioners allowed their personality to be instrumental in the success of their unique forms of Experimental Family Therapy, although their focus and goals were similar (Goldberg, 2013). Because of the importance of the individual personality in the success of a model, Whitaker’s Symbolic-Experiential Family Therapy (S-EFT) was selected and will be argued for…
