The Campbell Soup Company is an American producer of canned soups that distributes its products in 120 countries around the world. The central issue that Campbell’s Soup has historically encountered is the ever-changing trends in food and consumer demand. Economic development and population growth are the driving factor when it comes to increases in overall food consumption, while a growing middle class is also demanding better quality and more variety. Working in cooperation with globalization is the integration of supply chains. With food trade going global, it incites a need for more and tighter regulations. Campbell’s target market was predicated on the middle, working class. This was a pretty optimal target market because middle to lower classes would generally be the demographic of people to buy this product, because it’s more useful to the working family. Campbell’s should keep this target market on their main stream of development ideas. It has kept them running strong for over 100 years.
People tend to fill their shelf’s up with the product cause it can be used in a variety of ways. It’s also a food that can be preserved for a long time. This is the upside and downside of the soup. It last along time, which makes it more valuable to the consumer but the way the food is preserved, is not one of the healthiest. Most foods use salts to preserve it (mostly caned). And in most canned soups such as Campbell’s salt is stored in the can while being packaged and sealed to make it last long. That’s why some of the Campbell’s soups are labeled
